Perfect bound booklets have gained significant popularity in both creative and professional industries due to their lavish cover materials and impeccable precision finish. This premium binding method is perfect for brochures, catalogues, magazines, and any publication with a substantial number of pages.
How are perfect bound books made?
Our perfect bound books are produced through a two-step process. First, the inner pages are grouped together, while the outer cover is printed separately. These elements are then seamlessly combined by gluing the inner pages to the inside of the cover at the spine. The result is a sturdy and long-lasting structure capable of withstanding extensive use.
Tailor your perfect bound booklets to suit your specific needs and branding preferences:
Custom sizes up to A4 cater to your unique project requirements.
Choose from 12 internal paper stocks and 7 cover paper stocks.
Enhance durability and aesthetics with one of our 3 cover lamination options.
Order from just 1 book: Ideal for small-scale projects.
Quantities of 500 and below are produced using our state-of-the-art digital facilities. Larger quantities are produced using our modern litho presses.
For optimal protection, we recommend adding lamination, particularly for covers with heavy ink coverage. Lamination helps prevent ink transfer or marks caused by friction during transit or storage. You can choose from three finishes: Soft Touch, Matt, or Gloss, each providing a durable layer of protection for your design.

What is a perfect-bound booklet? A perfect-bound booklet is a professionally glued book where the inner pages are assembled, and the outer cover is attached by adhesive along a flat spine, giving a clean, durable finish.
How many pages can a perfect-bound booklet have? Perfect-bound booklets typically run from 40 to 240 pages (including covers) and must be a page count divisible by four. This includes the cover, so a 40 page booklet consists of 38 inner pages and 2 cover pages. You can print on all pages.
What sizes are available? You can order perfect-bound booklets in a range of sizes from A6 up to A4, with custom options available.
How do I calculate the spine width? Use the spine width calculator on the product page. The spine width depends on your page count and paper stocks so the spine and cover can be correctly sized to accommodate the amount of internal pages ordered.
How should I supply my artwork? Submit two PDF files: one 2-page PDF for the cover (both as spreads, including back cover spine and front cover, with the other containing the first inner page, spine and penultimate page) and one for the inner pages (individual pages in running order)
Why do the cover and inner pages need to be separate files? Perfect binding requires the cover as a single spread, including the spine, and the inner pages as a separate, ordered PDF so the binding process works correctly.
What file setup rules should I follow? Provide a CMYK PDF at 300 dpi, include 3 mm bleed, and keep important content away from trim and glue areas.
What is the non-printable area on the inside cover? A non-printable margin near the spine is required so glue can adhere properly. Content should be kept clear from this area to avoid print and binding issues.
How do I handle images or text that cross the spine? It’s recommended to shift content outward or avoid placing critical elements across the spine area. This is because perfect-bound books don’t open flat so, images crossing the spine may misalign, and any crucial text might be lost in the gutter of the booklet.
Can I print text or graphics on the spine? Yes, you can. If the spine is wide enough for the text to be legible. If you have a very narrow spine, it may not be suitable for printed spine text.
Should I add lamination or finishes? Lamination (e.g., gloss, matt, soft touch) protects the cover and reduces marks from printing and handling.
What should I check before submitting files? Ensure correct page order, spine width, bleed, safe margins, correct colour mode, and that fonts are embedded or outlined.
