Low-res looking imagery, cut-and-paste elements, bold font choices, and unusual layouts are a nod to the days when layouts were manual and printing was a more laborious and extravagant process.

Nowadays with the invention of incredible design software, creating a zine is comparatively easier.  They are brilliant when you want to stand out from the crowd by choosing to be deliberately different.  They make fantastic lookbooks and portfolios or publications for specific shared interests and hobbies. Zines are a great style of publication for indie magazines.

If you're looking for something that appears disruptive, a zine is the publication style for you.  They are rough and ready but in a deliberate way.  Their style reflects the days when underground publications were illicit so were quickly spun up, laboriously photocopied, and dog-eared from being shared.  Today, they look less handmade but pack a real punch in their ability to look out of place enough to pique interest.  Read more about zines on our blog.

You can order A4 and A5 in portrait or landscape from just 1 copy. If you’re after a different size, you can still order from just 1 when choosing 130gsm or 170gsm self-cover. For all other options, the minimum order is 25.

Technical Specifications for Zine Printing

For Zine Printing please submit artwork as one file in running order.

For example, a 40-page brochure should be supplied as one PDF with 40 pages running in page order.

Booklets must contain a page total divisible by 4.

The minimum order of just 1 brochure on A4 portrait and A5 portrait and landscape options, The Minimum order is 25 on all other options.

It is recommended you do not place words, page numbers, or images too close to the edges of each page.  We would recommend a safe zone on all sides of at least 5mm for saddle-stitched brochures. We highly recommend applying lamination to covers with heavy ink coverage. Lamination serves as a protective layer for the cover, preventing any potential marking caused by ink transfer or rubbing off during transit or storage.

• Include 3mm bleed on all sides

• We recommend a 5mm (ideally 10mm) safe zone for a better finish

• Supply as a CMYK PDF

• Outline or embed fonts

• 300dpi resolution
