A PVC poster is printed on a flexible plastic sheet instead of paper, so rain won't soak it or make it sag. We print on 440gsm PVC or 320gsm PVC Free. Both are waterproof and suitable for putting up outdoors in any weather.

You can, but water often gets in at the edges, and the paper inside starts to swell or peel or the ink may bleed which defeats the point of presenting a message in this way. A PVC poster is waterproof all the way through, with no paper core to soak up rain. For anything that's going to stay up outdoors for more than a few days, PVC is the safer option.

PVC posters work well in outdoor snap frames and poster cases. You can also fix them flat to a board with exterior-grade tape or screws. Leave the 10mm safe zone clear of text, so your fixings don't cover anything important.

If you need eyelets to help put up your poster, you can order a smaller banner which comes with ready-punched eyelets and optional cable ties.

If your sign needs to hang loose on railings or scaffolding, where wind can catch it, choose a PVC Banner, which has hemmed edges and eyelets. For a sign that needs to stand up on its own, such as a stake sign or an A-board insert, go for Correx Boards. For indoor walls and windows, Indoor Posters cost less.

Upload a CMYK PDF at 1:1 scale and 150dpi, with 3mm bleed on all sides, a 10mm safe zone and your fonts outlined or embedded. People read outdoor posters from further away, so keep text at 18pt or above and lines at 2pt or thicker. Every order gets a free artwork check.

Rain won't damage either material, so how long a poster lasts mostly depends on sunlight and wind. A poster in a sheltered spot or in a frame will last longer than one that is exposed.

PVC is much tougher than paper and won't tear when it gets wet. That's why people use PVC posters for school fetes, building site notices and garden centre signage, as they can stand up to regular handling, rolling for storage and reuse.

Both PVC and the PVC-Free alternative have excellent tear and tensile strength.

Choose PVC if your poster needs to cope with rain and stay up for a while.

Our outdoor posters offer Blueback paper as an additional substrate, which costs less and is made for pasting onto boards and hoardings for short campaigns.

If you're pasting up, choose Blueback. If you're fixing or framing outdoors, choose PVC.

Standard sizes run from A3 to A0, and you can order a custom size if your frame or board backing isn't an A-size. Enter your width and height in millimetres when you order a custom size.
