Once you have placed your order you can upload your print ready artwork. When supplying artwork for chalkboards, Please allow 3mm bleed on all sides, and supply as a 1 multi layered  CMYK PDF with all fonts outlined or embedded and with a resolution of 300dpi.

  • Please allow quiet borders of at least 30mm 
  • Artwork layer named “Artwork” with CMYK artwork for print
  • Artwork named “White” for white design elements and underpinning. All CMYK artwork must be underpinned with white (you do not have to overprint the white if you require white only within your design). Please ensure you have a spot colour named “White” (case sensitive) and set at 100% cyan only. Please make sure that this is set to overprint and is a vector not a bitmap image.

Add a personal touch using chalk markers to spread interesting messages to customers in a 530 x 600mm (21" x 23") display area. 

Our chalkboards menus are double painted for more protection which makes them a sturdy advertising tool that is ideal for outdoor and indoor use. They are also made of a dark brown solid wood for a stylish and attractive look and come with steel hinges and brass chains. These menu boards can be printed on both sides in full-colour CMYK UV inks and can be easily folded and unfolded for everyday use.

How To Get your Files Right For Chalkboard Printing

Artwork specification:

Once you have placed your order you can upload your print-ready artwork. When supplying artwork for Chalkboard Menus, please supply 1 multi-layered PDF as follows.

  • CMYK PDF, preferably in PDF/x4 format.

  • Outline or embed fonts

  • 150 dpi resolution

  •  Please allow quiet borders of at least 10mm, ideally 25 mm.

How to set up your chalkboard artwork.

  1. First, we create two new swatches. One is called “Spot_1” and the other is called “Spot_2”. These both need to be set to Color Type – Spot Color and 100% Black.

  1. Now, we create the elements that we want to use within the design. This should be placed on the Artwork layer, and at the bottom of the list.

  1. We then create the White elements and place them on the Spot_1 layer. We then apply our “Spot_1” swatch colour to all these graphics.

  1. Then, we duplicate these graphics and apply them to the “Spot_2” layer and apply the Spot_2 swatch colour to this layer’s graphics.

  1. Lastly, we select both the Spot_1 graphics and the Spot_2 graphics, and we set these both to Overprint Fill.

To avoid disappointment we recommend using a minimum of 18pt font size and 2pt line weight for all 150 dpi products as any smaller font or line weights may not print as expected.
