Postcards

In the UK, most postcards are A6 (148 x 105mm). We also print DL (210 x 99mm) for a longer, slimmer card, and a 148 x 148mm square. A5 postcards are available too.

We have plenty of stock to choose from, so you can pick whatever suits the use. Kraft, uncoated or recycled for a writeable, natural vibe or gloss for a shiny finish.

That depends on the stock. Uncoated and textured uncoated papers take a biro or fountain pen well, so choose one of those if your customers will write a note or fill in a reply.

Gloss, silk and laminated finishes give sharper photos, but ink can smudge on them, so they aren't the best if you intend for these to be written on, but they are great if you're printing image postcards to sell.

Choose postcards if the card will be posted, kept or written on. They're printed on heavier stock, so they stand up to the post and sit on a shelf without curling. Flyers work out cheaper for handing out or posting through letterboxes in large numbers. They're the better choice when you only need people to read them once.

Send us a CMYK PDF at 300dpi, with 3mm bleed on all sides and your fonts outlined or embedded. Put the front on page one and the back on page two. Templates are available in EPS, PDF and InDesign, and every order gets a free artwork check.

Yes. A6, DL and 148mm square postcards all fit within Royal Mail's letter size, so they go with a stamp and no envelope. Leave the right half of the back clear for the address and stamp. If you're sending a mail drop, add the address panel to your artwork before you upload it.

We can't do VDP (variable data printing), so please bear this in mind.

Yes. Ecommerce brands often add a postcard to every parcel, with a thank-you message, a discount code or a request for a review. A6 sits flat on top of most orders. For trade customers, white-label shipping means the cards arrive in your client's name, with no Tradeprint branding on the parcel.

You can order from 25 up to 2,000 postcards. A short run of 25 suits a test mailing or a craft fair stall. For more than 2,000, ask us for a bespoke quote. They work out at pennies per print, so postcards are a great product for marketing.
